Mademoiselle Campaign by Michael Creagh

•November 5, 2009 • Leave a Comment

A while back I posted that I had 3 catalogs that were in the pipeline and hopefully would be posted soon.  Finally, here is another one!!!  This is the Mademoiselle HK campaign.  I really enjoyed this shoot.  You may notice we worked with one of my favorite models, Martha Hunt from Next:  Makeup by Yuko and hair by Wesley from the Wall group.  We shot it in my Manhattan studio with Hasselblad H3D 39 Megapixels and Profoto lighting.

I will post more of the series later in this week.  But here is the teaser shot from their website.

Super Models Strip For Climate Change

•October 27, 2009 • Leave a Comment

I am re-posting this video from 350.org.  Besides big models appearing in it and the video raising awareness on climate change, I was excited to see Rachel Alexander appearing in it.  She is one of my favorite models and people.  Here is one of my photos of her.

Here is the sexy video!

You may remember her from a couple of my stories;

Photo of the Day – Dafne

•October 27, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Here is another one of my favorites from the archive.  It is a photo of my friend Dafne taken a while back.  I think she looks like Angelina Jolie.

The shot is very simple.  Taken on a Canon Rebel with a 50mm lens.  ISO 100 F10 1/80 with an external flash slightly above the camera…. Plus hot model.

Thanks

Photo of the Day – Dove from APM Models

•October 24, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Okay, photo of the day implies that I post a photo every day….which I clearly do not.  I am going to try to post more of my work, and a broader range of my work.  I started posting some of more of my natural light work and I got a lot of encouraging emails.  Here is another one.

This photo is from my archive.  It was shot in Brooklyn against my window.  I think I was using a reflector.  The model is the beautiful Dove from APM.

Dove085i

It was shot on a Canon Rebel with the 18-55mm lens.  Focal length was 35mm and the exposure was ISO 400 F4.5 1/25 sec.

Quoted in Digital PhotoPro Magazine

•October 24, 2009 • Leave a Comment

I just found the article online from Digital PhotoPro on Medium format versus other full frame SLRs  by William Sawalich.  I am quoted in it a few times on my thoughts Hasselblad versus Canon (pages 1,2 and 4) though I suggest reading the whole article!

If you recall, Digital PhotoPro did a 9 page cover story on me this last summer (link below).

Here are some more shots from the Susana Monaco Catalog for Spring 2010.  The theme was shadows and we utilized an old friend; balloons.  The entire collection should be on Susana Monaco’s website in the next few days (http://susanamonaco.com).

Photography.Book.Now San Francisco Event – Michael Creagh

•October 12, 2009 • Leave a Comment

What a hectic week.  I headed out West to attend Blurb’s San Francisco Photography.Book.Now meet-up.  This was a followup to the awards ceremony in New York 2 weeks ago.  Here is a link to my post on that event: http://michaelcreagh.wordpress.com/2009/09/25/photography-book-now-awards-new-york-2009-michael-creagh/

West

I only managed to be in San Francisco just under 24 hours, but it was well worth the trip. I only had an hour to walk around and take some photos.  I focused on what was decidedly not New York.

The event was great.  It was held at the Contemporary Jewish Museum (http://www.thecjm.org/).  It is an absolutely beautiful building and a great venue for an event.

SanFran5

SanFran8 SanFran9

The event was once again packed with book and photography lovers pouring through all the winning books.  I met some very cool people.  I always find it odd but fun, to see someone looking through my book.  And with books everywhere, you can’t miss seeing some people spend an hour looking at your photos, and then another spending about 10 seconds!   If you missed this event, there are still 2 more in Chicago and London.  I am too busy to make it out to them, but judging by the last 2 events, they will be great.

One of my Favorite Stories – Michael Creagh

•September 29, 2009 • Leave a Comment

This last week I did a great shoot with graphic illustrators Vault49 (http://vault49.com) of 3D cutouts that hopefully I post soon.  But it reminded me of my first shoot with Vault and my dear friend, photographer Rinze Van Brug (http://www.dutchhouseofphotography.com/newyork.htm).  It is one of my favorites shoots with the gorgeous Bekah Jenkins.

The photos then had graphic illustrations added to them and were exhibited at the Conningsby Gallery in London.  Here is a sample.
